La UCI ha anunciado hoy los 15 equipos de XC y los 15 de DH/4X que pueden recibir la etiqueta de «UCI Elite Mountain Bike Team» para la temporada 2012.
Las invitaciones ya han sido enviadas a sus responsables. Los equipos han sido escogidos en función del ranking UCI de sus mejores corredores a fecha de 26 de septiembre. Ahora tienen hasta el 10 de Diciembre para confirmar su nuevo status «elite».
El ser un equpo UCI Elite Mountain Bike tiene numerosas ventajas: tienen inscripción gratuita en todas las Copas del Mundo y las carreras inscritas en el calendario de la UCI (salvo carreras por etapas). Por contra, para poder serlo, deben presentar como mínimo a un corredor en todas las carreras de la Copa del Mundo y mostrar el logo de equipo UCI Elite Mountain Bike en su ropa y vehículos oficiales.
Por otra parte, los equipos que quieran ser UCI tienen hasta Febrero de 2012 para presentar sus solicitudes.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has today announced the 15 cross-country teams and the 15 “gravity” teams that could receive the label “UCI Elite Mountain Bike Team” for the 2012 season.
Invitations to join the new higher tier of UCI registered mountain bike teams have been issued to the best teams of the UCI ranking established on 26th September 2011 (calculated by adding up the UCI points of the best riders within each team). The teams have until December 10 to confirm their interest so as to obtain the “Elite” status.
UCI Elite Mountain Bike Teams benefit from numerous advantages: notably free entry at all the UCI MTB World Cup events and all races on the UCI Mountain Bike International Calendar (apart from stage races). In return, the teams are obliged to enter at least one rider in all rounds of the 2012 MTB World Cup and to display the UCI Elite Mountain Bike Team logo on their race outfits and team vehicles.
The other teams can register before February 2012 as regular 2012 UCI MTB Teams.
